Going out for a few drinks with the girls the other week proved to be much more effective than I had originally planned. Besides catching a great buzz and engaging in some much needed girl talk, I stumbled upon up-and-coming-artist Matt Colligan, whose music is just as potent as the shots he made me that night. Check him out at Ace Of Clubs in NYC on Feb. 6 where he’ll be performing as part of his label showcase with River Edge’s Visionary Music Group.
Colligan, who hails from Clifton, NJ, has been a mainstay in the local music scene ever since he strummed his first chord on the guitar at 16. It was love at first sound, and ever since he’s been writing and playing his music at local venues throughout the tri-state area. He’s currently on the schedule as a regular performer at Clifton’s newest drinking well, The Shannon Rose, where he performs acoustically on select Monday nights. In addition, Matt is currently in the process of recording with Visionary engineers Tom Gioia and Andy Snitzer who have worked with such artists as New Jersey’s own Bon Jovi, as well as Beck, Elvis Costello, Paul Simon and The Rolling Stones. Together the trio brings to life Colligan’s heartfelt lyrics and honest sentiments through his music.
Ace Of Clubs is located at 9 Great Jones Street in NYC. For more info and to check out some of Matt’s music visit myspace.com/mattcolligan
